Craft, sorry for the "play" but nothing is more personal than your canoe
or kayak and we can build and personalize one just for you
About us
I started building small boats in the San Diego Harbor
on the docks. Using only salvage material from building sites, lumber
mills and cabinet shops. Today we still build using primarily salvage
woods. Recently I acquired a load of Paulownia logs destined to be
bulldozed. Lighter than western Red Cedar, Spruce and Redwood. My
next canoe will be made from the Paulowia logs that I had milled and I
will accent the canoe with strips of Redwood for character.
The
Paddles also are made from salvage Mahogany and other woods, coming from
shipping pallets and a whole host of other locations. We do try to maintain a
supply of western red cedar and red wood, when we can find it.

Work in progress
This is a 16 foot, stretched out to 17 foot. I
have been working on this for myself in my spare time.
It is primarily made of western red cedar with some
redwood for defining strips. The gunwale, stems thwart and seats are made
of mahogany I acquired from a flooring job.
the decks are made of 1/8 inch Luan inlaid with the fall off. I will add
some Paulownia to accent
the mahogany stems.
